John J. Harrington, 88, of Pleasant Valley Estates in Claremont, died Tuesday evening, October 24, 2006 at the Haven Health Center of Claremont. He was born in Newfoundland, Canada on February 27, 1918 and had resided in Claremont for the past twenty years and lived in West Roxbury, MA most of his married life. Mr. Harrington was a veteran of World War II having been discharged as a Sergeant from the US Army and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He worked as a long shore man on the docks in Massachusetts, later in the post office and in a jewelry store. Mr. Harrington was a loving and caring husband, always called his wife, honey and every where they went you would find them walking hand in hand. The surviving family includes his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Maiola) Harrington of Claremont whom he married in 1944; two brothers, Edward Harrington and Leo Harrington and nieces and nephew. A private funeral service will be held Friday morning, October 27th at 10:45 AM in the Stringer Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley J. Piwowar, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St Mary's Cemetery. |
