John Marion "Mike" Garoutte, Jr., 59, of Lover's Lane in Charlestown died
suddenly at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon on October 9,
2007.
Mike was born November 30, 1947 in Baton Rouge, LA, the son of John M. and
Mary (Miller) Garoutte, Sr. He grew up in Palo Alto, CA and spent every
summer at the J Bar A Ranch near Douglas, Arizona. Mike was educated at the
Hill School in Pottstown, PA.
He spent two decades in the Bay Area, where he was employed as a manager at
Berkly Glass Lab. He lived abroad for a year, in Glasgow, Scotland, where
he established a glass facility for the BGL.
Mike arrived in New Hampshire in early 1987 to be closer to his oldest
friend, the Honorable James Gill Phinizy and his wife Elin of Acworth.
He married his wife, Maura (Brady) Kaiser on October 10, 1992 at their home
in Charlestown.
Mike was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Claire Ellen Van Ranst,
who died from breast cancer in May of 2005 and sister-in-law Cara Brady.
He is survived by his wife; his son, John M. Garoutte, III and his
step-children Matthew J. and Bethany H. Kaiser; two nephews, Ian Fraser of
Orlando, FL and Luke I. Van Ranst of N. Walpole, NH; In-laws, John and Mary
Brady and Tom Brady of N. Madison, CT, Jim and Molly Brady of Summerfield,
NC, Deryck and Kathleen Bratton of Hilltop, PA, Don and Carol Lewis of
Jacksonville, FL and Joseph and Rita Cosgrove of Methuen, MA.
Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning, October 13th
at Eleven O'clock in St Catherine of Siena Church in Charlestown with Rev.
Father Michael Gendron, Pastor officiating.
Interment will follow in St Catherine of Siena Cemetery.
