Joseph Alfred Giovanello, 66, formerly of Middle Street in Claremont, died
February 9, 2007 at the Sullivan County Health Care in Unity.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 15, 1940 the son of Fred and Hope
(Bechok) Giovanello. He moved from New York after his father died at an
early age to North Charlestown and grew up on the Bechok family farm. He
attended Farwell grade school and graduated from Charlestown High School in
the Class of 1958. He served in the US Army from 1959 to 1962 and was
stationed in Germany.
Joseph was employed at Joy Manufacturing Co. for a number of years as a
production planner and for the past 15 years at Sullivan County Nursing Home
in housekeeping until his retirement in March of 2006.
He was an avid fisherman spending his off time from work fishing the lakes
and ponds of Vermont and Hew Hampshire.
Joseph was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1201, the Benevolent
and Protective Order of Elks Lodge # 879 and the American Legion Post #29
all of Claremont.
The surviving family includes his mother, Hope Rzeczycki of Claremont; one
brother, Alfred Giovanello of Kirkland, IN; a step-sister, Joanne Mounty of
Farmington, NY; two nieces, Michelle Giovanello of New York City, NY and
Gianna Giovanello of Kirkland, IN; two aunts, Ruth Morgan of Tinmouth, VT
and Theresa Ruggiero of Brooklyn, NY; four uncles, David Bechok of Carlsbad,
CA, Charles Bechok of Claremont, Michael Giovanello of New Jersey and Augie
Giovanello of Brooklyn, NY and many cousins.
A Graveside committal service will be held Saturday, May 26th at Ten O'clock
in Mt View Cemetery in Claremont with Pastor Scott Kearns, of the First
Baptist Church, officiating.
