Joseph H.R. Desharnais, 75, of  Megan Place in Claremont, died Saturday
morning, September 1, 2007 at the Valley Regional Hospital. He was born in
Willimantic, CT on January 25, 1932, the son of Joseph Real and Anna
(Taschereau) Desharnais and was raised in Tewksbury, MA and had resided in
Claremont for most of his life.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the US Air Force
and the US Marines retiring in 1958.  He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He retired from Sturm Ruger in 1994 where he worked for 28 years. 

His hobbies included ham radios, stained glass, woodworking, music,
bird-watching and time with his family.

The surviving family includes his wife, Barbara A. (Belisle) Desharnais of
Claremont, whom he married on April 28, 1967; his children, Harmony West and
her husband Bill of New Mexico, Joseph Desharnais and his wife, Peggy of
Manchester, Candace Bounepane and her husband, David of Alton Bay, Kimberly
Lambert and her husband, George of Hillsboro, Karen Allard and her husband,
Tony of Claremont, Kelly Pelletier and her husband, Paul of Hillsboro,
Shanon Limoges and her husband, David of Newport and Jennifer Ranney and her
husband, Kyle of Newport; 32 grandchildren; three brothers, Roger Desharnais
of Tewksbury, MA, Real Desharnais of Claremont and Henry Desharnais of CA;
six sisters, Terry Boissoneault and Isabelle Serra, both of NJ, Gertrude
Anderson of CA, Janette Munice of Contoocook, Dorothy Martell of Claremont
and Lucille Harrington of Ascutney, VT and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Desharnais and Roland
Desharnais.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Monday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday morning, September 4th  at the
Stringer Funeral Home with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar, Pastor of St
Joseph Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Union Cemetery with full military honors provided
by the US Marines.
