Joseph W. Johnson, Jr. 85, of Route 12A in Langdon, died Tuesday morning,
October 9, 2007 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in White River
Junction, VT.

He was born in Haverhill, MA on January 3, 1922 the son of Joseph W. and
Marguerite (Sheehan) Johnson, Sr. and had resided in Langdon for nearly
sixty-one years.  He was a graduate of Stevens High School in the Class of
1940.

Joseph was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Navy.

He was employed at Jacobs Manufacturing Co. in Charlestown, NH for
twenty-nine years and later worked as a bus driver for Home Health Care of
Keene, NH and County Coach.

He was a member of the American Legion Britton-Porter Post #57 of Alstead,
the Langdon Volunteer Fire Dept. and a ten year member of the RFD Boys Band
where he played guitar and was a square dance caller.

He was the widower of Dorothy Ruth Johnson whom he married on October 13,
1941 and she died July 16, 2006.

The surviving family includes two daughters, Kathleen Joyce Merrill and her
husband Bruce of Charlestown and Brenda Mae Batchelder and her husband
Robert of Langdon; one sister, Willow Scott of Florida; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

He was pre-deceased by one son, Joseph W. Johnson in 1997 and a
granddaughter, Jennifer Merrill in 1966.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Funeral Services will be held Friday morning, October 12th at Ten O'clock in
the Seventh Day Adventist Church on the top of Leslie Avenue in Claremont
with Pastor Carl Behrmann, officiating.

Interment with full military honors provided by the Britton-Porter American
Legion Post #57 will be held in Lower Langdon Cemetery.
