Katherine E. "Kathy" Jobin, 65, of Baker Street in Claremont, died Friday afternoon, August 18, 2006 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. She was born in Hebron, CT on April 27, 1941 the daughter of Kenneth W. and Dorothy D. (White) Ellis and had resided in Claremont for forty years. She graduated as Valedictorian of her class at Regional Hebron Andover Marlborough High School in Hebron, CT and received her BA Degree in Sociology from Wheaton College in Illinois. Katherine retired in 2001 from the Claremont School District where she was an elementary music instructor for thirty years. She was a former organist and director of the choir at the First Congregational Church, a substitute organist at many churches in Claremont and also was an accomplished pianist. After graduation from college she was an exchange student for six months with the International Farm Youth Exchange. She returned to India in 1982 as a volunteer with Mother Theresa's Missionaries of Charities and in 2001 traveled to Bombay as a volunteer with Sister Paulette of the Handmaids of the Blessed Trinity. After retiring, she helped with the Middle School Music Program, participated in the mentoring program at Bluff School, did music with the residents of Silver Maples assisted living facility, organized people for Franklin Graham's Christmas Child Program and Charles Colson's Prison Fellowship Program which helps children of local prisoners at Christmas time. She worshiped at the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church. The family includes her husband, Paul J. Jobin of Claremont whom she married on July 26, 1986; her mother of Hebron, CT; one brother, Edward Ellis and his wife, Renee of Hebron, CT; four sisters, Gwen Mund and her husband, Frank of Hebron, CT, Chris Irish and her husband, Preston of Bolton, CT, Connie Wilson and her husband, Tim of Westminster, CO and Marilyn Swenson and her husband, Greg of Alton, NH; two aunts, one uncle , nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street on Tuesday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, August 23rd at Ten O'clock in the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church with Rev. Andrew Tregubov, officiating. Interment will follow in St Joseph Cemetery in Keene, NH. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Holy Resurrection Church, 99 Sullivan Street, Claremont, NH 03743. |
