Lawrence Raymond Santaw, 83, of Pawtucket Avenue in Claremont, NH, died
Sunday, October 16, 2005 at his home.  He was born in Mansonville, PQ Canada on October 25, 1921 the son of George L. and Rose A. (Privie) St. Onge and had resided in Claremont since 1944.  He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army.

He owned and operated the Shell Service Station on Broad Street for fifteen
years and managed several other stations in the area for thirty-five years
including the Texaco station in Ascutney and retired in August of 1980 when
he became paralyzed from a motorcycle accident on the Charlestown Road in
Claremont.

He was the widower of Elsie M. (Combs) Santaw whom he was married  to for
twenty-nine years.  She died April 18, 1974.

The surviving family includes one son, George L. Santaw of Austin, TX; four
daughters, Eunice R. Roy of Claremont, Dunice E. Ouellette of Newport,
Burnice K. Barton and Inenice A. Pinney both of Abeline, TX; thirteen
grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Dora Deaette of N.
Troy, VT and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by one sister and two brothers.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street on Thursday
evening from 6 to 8 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning, October 21st
at Eleven O'clock in St Mary's Church with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien,
Pastor, officiating.  Interment will follow in St Mary's Cemetery, with
military honors provided by the 10th Mountain Division of Fort Drum.

The family suggest that donations may be made in his memory to the Veterans
Administration Respite Room Fund, 215 North Main Street, White River
Junction, VT 05009-0001.
