Leon R. Hobbs, Sr. 84, of Providence Ave, died at his home, Monday evening,
December 18, 2006.

He was born in North Haverhill, NH on Jan 10, 1922, the son of Edward G. and
Lois (Rogers) Hobbs and lived in East Ryegate, VT for over thirty years
before moving to Claremont in the early 80's.

Leon served in the army as a Photo lab tech during World War II and served
in battles in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and The
Bulge, for which he received the good conduct medal, European African,
Middle Eastern Theater campaign Ribbon, American theater campaign ribbon and
the Victory Medal.  He worked for forty two years in the paper mills in
Claremont at the Claremont Paper Mill and in East Ryegate, VT.

Leon was a Deputy Sheriff in Caledonia County in Vermont and a treasurer

for the East Ryegate Credit Union.

He married Dorothy (St. Marie) Hobbs on March 23, 1946 and she died on March
15, 2000.

The surviving family includes two sons, Joseph A. Hobbs and Leon R. Hobbs,
Jr. both of Claremont; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three
brothers, Arthur, John and twin brother Lewis

He was predeceased by two sisters Emma and Bertha and one brother Dennis.

A graveside committal service will be held Saturday, June 23rd at eleven
o'clock at the Horse Meadow Cemetery in North Haverhill, NH with Rev. Father
Daniel Sinibaldi, Pastor of St Joseph Church, officiating.
