Lois G. Colby, 77, of Martha Street in Claremont and recently a patient at the Sullivan County Nursing Home, died Sunday evening, June 26, 2005 at the Valley Regional Hospital. She was born in Middleport, NY on April 22, 1928 and was adopted by Joseph and Annie Gosselin of Springfield, VT. She was a graduate of Springfield High School in 1946. Lois worked in Albany, NY for five years, at Bryant Grinder Corporation in Springfield, VT for twenty years, at Joy Manufacturing Company in Claremont for eleven and a half years and at American Brush in Claremont for six and a half years. She married Dawson H. Colby on August 17, 1973 and he died September 14, 1993. The surviving family includes one son, Alan Gavin whom made his home with her in Claremont; one daughter, Diane Lawrence and her husband, Bill of Langdon; three step children, Susan J. Burbank and her husband, Frank of Livingston Manor, NY, Dawson H. Colby, Jr. and his wife, Pam of Cement City, MI and Kenneth Colby and his wife, Mary Jane of Poway, CA; six grandchildren, Erica and friend, Austin, Jennifer, Kris, Zane, Jason and Rachel; and great-grandson, Logan. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday at Ten O’clock in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont with Rev Father Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor of St Mary’s Parish, officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery in Charlestown. |
