Louis Zullo, 80, of Guilford, VT for the past seven years and a long time resident of Claremont, died Thursday afternoon, February 23, 2006 at the Brattleboro Hospital in Brattleboro, VT of a massive stroke. He was born in Claremont, NH on October 1, 1925, the son of Henry and Nancy (Zucarro) Zullo. Louis was a graduate of Stevens High School in the Class of 1943 and served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He retired in July of 1982 from the United States Postal Service where he worked as a letter carrier in Claremont for thirty-three years and two months. He also worked part-time parking cars at the Claremont Speedway. Louis loved his family, sports especially the Red Sox, Patriots, Drew Bledsoe and Tiger Woods. He also enjoyed bowling, dancing and loved a friendly argument. He held membership in the Moose, Elks, VFW and Legion. He was the widower of Marie L. (Dufresne) Zullo, who died August 7, 1982. The surviving family includes his longtime companion, Sylvia Southwick of Guilford, VT; five children, Cindi M. Zullo of Lincoln, RI, Nancy T. Brown and her husband, Neal of Fredericksburg, VA, Louis V. Zullo and his wife, Marites of San Diego, CA, Lori J. Bugbee and her husband, Bob of Lempster, NH and Kevin J. Zullo and his wife, Bernesa of Keene, NH, daughter-in-law, Sylvia Zullo wife of the late Henry Zullo II of Lakewood, WA; sixteen grandchildren, Nadia, Jennifer, Anthony, Phillip, Lirra, Lori Jean, Jordan, Bianca, Michael, Ronnie, Anthony, Bryan, Maria, Caleb, Ruzzel and John; four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Alexandra, Andrew and Michael; one sister, Elena Randi and her husband, Jim of Savannah, GA; and also nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, and three sisters, Carmel Zullo, Jennie Zullo and Philomena DeLuca. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 27th at Eleven O'clock in St Mary's Church in Claremont with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St Mary's Cemetery.
