Louise Selma (Ulwick) Lewis, 92, a ballroom dancer, passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2006 in Arlington, TX. Mrs. Lewis was the first woman to be grand marshal in the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl Parade during its 50th annual celebration in Hanover, NH. She served as president of both the New Hampshire and Florida Federation of Women's Clubs. She was also a volunteer for the USO and various hospitals in Florida. Louise was a director, producer and actress for a theater group in Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W.C. Shaw; second husband, Leonard W. "Ted" Lewis; stepson, Ian W. Lewis; brothers, Walter and Donald Ulwick; two sisters, Norma Regan and Shirley Ulwick and grandson, Kenneth G. Shaw, Jr. The surviving family includes son, Kenneth G. Shaw and his wife, Florence; stepson, Harry C. Lewis and his wife, Mimi; two sisters, Thelma Carey and Anna Brown and her husband, Grant; grandchildren, Kim Marie Garon, Lorraine Ann Shaw, Michael Lewis Shaw, Paul Lewis, Mathew Lewis, Noreen Kolwicz and Mora White, also several great- and great-great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont, NH on Friday from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, September 23rd, at 10:30, in the funeral home, with The Rev. Kelly E. Kirby, Rector of the Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the West Claremont Burial Grounds in Union Cemetery. Members of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, SICA Court #35 of Burlington, VT will conduct their service Saturday morning at 10:15. The family would like to express gratitude for those people who helped in the past days of her life. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in her memory to the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl, Box 820, Lebanon, NH 03766, for the Shriners Hospitals for burned and crippled children. |
