Mildred Lena Prouty, 87, formerly of the Old Springfield Road in Charlestown, NH, died October 17, 2005 at the Sullivan County Nursing Home. She was born in Springfield, VT on March 30, 1918 the daughter of Leon H. and Ruth (Hammond) Barry and had resided in Charlestown since 1938. Mildred retired in 1974 as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Bellows Falls Hospital where she worked for eighteen years. She was a member of the Charlestown Congregational Church and a former member of the Ladies of the Moose Auxiliary of Bellows Falls, VT. She was the widow of Gerald F. Prouty who died in May of 1974. The surviving family includes one daughter, Karen Prouty of Charlestown; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Barry F. Prouty in 1981 and Gary Prouty in 2003 and one brother, Fred L. Barry in 1996. Graveside committal services will be held Saturday morning, November 12th at Ten O'clock in Oakland Cemetery in Springfield, VT with Rev. Malcolm Grobe, of the Charlestown Congregational Church, officiating.
