Mildred Margaret Tucker, 95, of 6 McCusker Place in Claremont, died Tuesday evening, September 26, 2006 at the Sullivan County Health Care after a short period of failing health. She was born in Mildred, PA on October 9, 1910 the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Herker) Mosier. Mrs. Tucker graduated from Geneva High School in Geneva, NY in 1929 and attended Oneida Business School. She married Charles Lamar on Jan. 8, 1933. They were later divorced and she married Freeman Tucker. She was employed for many years by Claremont Dry Cleaners, and by Veterans Cleaners in Claremont prior to moving to Laconia in 1960. She returned to Claremont in 1985. Millie was a devoted mother and homemaker, loved crocheting and gardening. She will be sadly missed by all of her family. She was the widow of Freeman Henry Tucker whom she married in Claremont on June 2, 1951 and he died October 25, 1978. The surviving family includes one daughter, Beryl Lamar Smith and her husband, Ron of Claremont; one son, Dean Lamar and his wife, Pauline of North Conway; six grandchildren, Kevin Smith and his wife, Debra of Claremont, Karen Smith Schofield and her husband, Paul of Springfield, VT, Kerry Smith and his wife, Maggie of Acworth, Peter Lamar and his wife, Helen of Hooksett, David Lamar and his wife, Christine of Stratham, Ronald Lamar and his wife, Tammi of North Conway; Twelve great-grandchildren, Jay R and Barbara Smith, Katie, Garrett and Sarah Lamar, Megan, Melanie, Brittani and Thomas Lamar, Tyler, Ashley and Aaron Lamar; one sister, Gertrude (Mrs. Harry)Moore both of Geneva, NY; one nephew, Howard Meeker; one niece, Barbara Stenzel. She was predeceased by her husband, an infant son, Charles Lamar Jr., her sister, Florence Meeker, her nephew, William Moore and her niece, Joan Meeker. Friends may call one hour prior to service from 12:30 until 1:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, September 30th at One-Thirty in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont with Rev. Kelly E. Kirby, Rector of the Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt View Cemetery. |
