Muriel Dawne Steinke, 75, of Winter Street in Claremont, NH, died Wednesday
evening, February 15, 2006 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in
Windsor, VT after a short and courageous battle with cancer.   She was born
in North Andover, MA on June 30, 1930 the daughter of Albert and Orpah
(Kennedy) Schofield and had resided in Claremont for thirty-three years.
She graduated from Johnson High School in North Andover, MA  and attended
one year at Burdett Business School in Boston and also received credits to
become a para-professional.

She worked as a Head Start Teacher, and was a para-professional at the
Kindergarten Center and at Maple Avenue School where she made many good
friends and loved working with young children.  Muriel loved choral music
and sang in church choirs all her life.  She was a peacemaker who loved
people and got great joy from her friends and family.

The surviving family includes her husband, Kenneth R. Steinke of Claremont
whom she married on October 29, 1961; one daughter, Pamela J. Matheson and
her husband, Edward of Claremont and several nieces and nephews.   There are
no visiting hours.

A memorial service will be held Monday morning, February 20th at
Eleven-Thirty in the Plainfield Community Church with Rev. Suellen Leugers,
Pastor, officiating.   The family suggests that in lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to the Plainfield Community Church, PO Box 84,
Plainfield, NH 03781.  The Stringer Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
