Nancy Favreau Holtorf of Perkinsville, Vermont, died suddenly May 2, 2007 at
her home. She was born in Boston, MA on December 22, 1954 the daughter of
John A. and Margaret M. Favreau. She grew up in Dedham, MA and attended
high school there.
Mrs. Holtorf is survived by her husband of 28 years, Robert, and by her sons
Gregory K. Holtorf and David K. Holtorf. She is also survived by three
sisters: Janice Millholland of Southboro, MA, Terry Maki of Merrimac, NH and
Elisabeth Wuebbolt of Weare, NH. A fourth sister, Margaret Carroll,
predeceased her. She is also is survived by her lifelong friend, Barbara
Sanderson. She is survived by her nieces Christina Carroll Reese, Katherine
Carroll, Amy Carroll Conroy, Jessica Maki, Elizabeth Maki and Kaitlin
Wuebbolt, and her nephews John Millholland, Peter Millholland, Robert
Carroll, Thomas Carroll, Timothy Carroll, Jeffrey Wuebbolt and Steven
Wuebbolt.
She earned a B.A. at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She
married Robert Holtorf on January 17, 1979 and moved to Weathersfield,
Vermont, in 1981 where they built their home.
Mrs. Holtorf worked at the Weathersfield Schools starting in 1981, taking
time off to raise her own two sons. At the time of her death, she was
employed at Weathersfield Elementary School where she helped special needs
children. She is mourned today by her many students and colleagues.
Nancy had a special love of the ocean where her family went each summer, to
Duxbury, MA. She also enjoyed gardening and quilting. Friends and family
who loved her sense of humor recall her fifteen minutes of fame, which
occurred when she called in to Car Talk, on NPR, to get Tom and Ray
Magliozzi's advice on how to use a motor vehicle to dispatch garden pests.
Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont,
NH on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy Holtorf's memory to the American
Cancer Society, the Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 Route 101, Unit #8,
Bedford, NH 03110 or to the Weathersfield Schools Activity Fund, 1862 Route
106, Perkinsville, VT 05151 which will create a special fund in her memory
for children's enrichment activities.
