Normand J. Berube, 80, of Whitcomb Lane in Claremont, died peacefully Friday
morning, May 26, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family after a long
battle with lung cancer.  He was born in Fall River, MA on June 20, 1925 the
son of Evarist and Alphosine (Roy) Berube. He had resided in Claremont for
the past nineteen years and formerly lived in Hudson, MA for nine years.
Mr. Berube was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Navy.  Normand
retired on August 1, 1987 from General Motors in Framingham, MA where he
worked as an electrician's foreman for twenty-three years.

He was a member of the AARP and the American Legion Post #29 and a former
member of the VFW Post #808.

His family meant more to him than anything else.  He was a very loving
husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all that knew him.

He was the widower of Jeannette B. (Lavoie) Berube whom he married on
November 25, 1950 and she died November 19, 2002 and was also pre-deceased
by two sisters, Betty Martel and Theresa Medeiros.

The surviving family includes one daughter, Jeanne A. Burke and her husband
William of Claremont; five grandchildren, Kristie Yurek, Christopher Yurek,
Gina Burke, Adam Burke and Shannon Burke;  two great-granddaughters, Tori
Wainwright and Tara Yurek;  one brother, Leo J. Berube of Fall River, MA;
two sisters, Jeanne Blais and Anita St. Laurent  both of Fall River, MA also
nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Members of the American Legion Post #29 are asked to meet at the Funeral
Home, Monday evening at 7:15 PM for a Legion service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning, May 30th at
Eleven O'clock in St Joseph Church with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar,
Pastor, officiating.  Interment will follow in St Mary's Cemetery.
