Phyllis Marion Belair, 84, of Summer Crest in Newport and a long time resident of 120 Myrtle Street in Claremont died Thursday morning, November 24, 2005 at the Fletcher-Allen Health Care Center in Burlington, VT. She was born in Waterbury, VT on April 26, 1921 the daughter of Ernest and Blanche (Arey) Purvee and lived in Windsor, VT for several years. She was a graduate of Windsor High School in the Class of 1939. She married Fernand B. Belair on May 18, 1940 and he died on October 20. 1996. Mrs. Blair retired in 1976 as a typist clerk in the office at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Windsor, VT where she worked for thirty-seven years in several departments, including in the plant, in traffic and lastly in the office. She was a communicant of St Mary's Parish and loved to cook, knit and sew. The surviving family includes one daughter, Cecelia Rutherford of Claremont; one son, Jerome Belair of Manchester, NH; one sister, Alice Ledyard of Rochester, NY and nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by three brothers, Roger Purvee, Ivan Purvee and Glennard Purvee. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday afternoon, November 28th at One O'clock in St Mary's Church, with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in St Mary's Cemetery. |
