Phyllis Rocheleau Candon, 67, of Brandon Place in Claremont, died Thursday,
November 22, 2007 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
She was born in Troy, NH on April 6, 1940 the daughter of Emile V. and
Mildred (Boucher) Rocheleau. She had resided in Claremont since 1966 and
also enjoyed spending her winters in Greenacres, FL since her retirement in
1990.
Phyllis graduated from Keene Teachers College in 1962 and began her
twenty-five year teaching career in Belmont, NH. She touched the lives of
many people in Claremont having taught sixth grade at Maple Avenue
Elementary School and Disnard Elementary School.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Claremont and St.
Matthew Catholic Church in Lantana, FL.
Phyllis loved gardening and took great pleasure in planting her flowers each
spring. She also enjoyed watching birds in her backyard, playing golf with
her husband and friends, and meeting her girlfriends for coffee every
Tuesday afternoon. She also loved traveling to Florida every winter where
she spent many wonderful years retired with her husband.
Phyllis also grew to love her husband's high school class. She accompanied
him to many of his high school reunions and was fondly referred to as an
honorary member of the Stevens High School Class of 1954.
The surviving family includes her husband, Robert B. Candon of Claremont
whom she married on August 25, 1962; two daughters, Jennifer DuBois and her
husband Barry of Juno Beach, FL and Patricia Allison and her husband,
Timothy of Jupiter, FL; two brothers, Emile V. Rocheleau, Jr. of Jaffrey, NH
and Martin Rocheleau of Fitzwilliam, NH; one sister, Jane Rideout of Keene,
NH; one uncle, Paul Rocheleau of Keene and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, two sisters, Marcia Rocheleau and Ann
Miller and one brother Edward Rocheleau.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday afternoon, November
26th at One O'clock in St Joseph Church with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar,
Pastor officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
The Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont is in charge of
arrangements.
Friends are invited to join the family for a time of fellowship and sharing
following the Mass at the Claremont Country Club, where Phyllis was a
long-standing member.
The family suggests that donations may be made in her memory to St Joseph
Church, P.O. Box 824, Claremont, NH 03743.
