Ray Elmer Jones, Jr., 76, of Clifton Avenue in Claremont, died Saturday
afternoon, June 17, 2006 at the Valley Regional Hospital.

He was born in Long Island, NY on May 3, 1930 the son of Ray E. and Elnora
(Phelps) Jones.  He had resided in Claremont since 1982 and previously lived
in Hinsdale.  He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served in the
US Army Air Corp.

Ray retired in 1994 from M & J Shoe in Charlestown where he was in sales and
management. He had previously worked for Ted Monetta at Dan's Shoe in
Claremont, Dunham Family Shoe Store and Dunham Brothers Shoe both in
Brattleboro, VT.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Claremont and was a former
member of Rotary, Kiwanis and Past President of the Chamber of Commerce in
Brattleboro where he received the "Man of the Year" award in 1980.

The surviving family includes his wife, Betty T. (Trombley) Jones of
Claremont whom he married on Nov. 1, 1952;  one daughter, Ann Marie LeClair
of Claremont; one son, Jeffrey Ray Jones and his wife, Annie of Madison, AL;
five grandchildren, Amy Marie LeClair of Portland, ME, Lisa LeClair Wyman,
Joshua Paul LeClair both of Claremont, Jennifer Ann Jones and Heather Nicole
Jones both of Madison, AL; one sister, Marcia Feeney of Langhorne, PA; one
brother, Stephen Farrington of Brattleboro, VT and nieces and nephews.  He
was pre-deceased by his son-in-law, Paul J. LeClair who died June 14, 1992.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street on Tuesday
evening from 6 to 8 PM.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday morning, June 21st at Eleven
O'clock in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Pastor David Crosby and Pastor
Scott Kearns, officiating.

Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his
memory to the First Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 1036, Claremont,
