Raymond J. Lambert, Sr., 89, of Hill View Circle in Charlestown, a former
long time resident of Claremont, died Sunday morning, October 1, 2006 at the
Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, VT.

He was a native and nearly life long resident of Claremont, NH, born on
August 27, 1917 the son of Albert and Edwardina (LeClair) Lambert and had
resided in Charlestown for the past four years.

Raymond had a very interesting and active life.  He had worked at Jones and
Lamson Machine Co. in Springfield, VT and at Cone Automatic in Windsor, VT
as a machinist and sales and marketing consisting of traveling many states
and locations in the United States as well as owning his own business,
Lambert's TV and Appliances on School Street in Claremont. He played on
Cone's Baseball team and was a semi-pro baseball player.  Raymond also was a
master wood craftsman perfecting his hobby of furniture making.

He was a Claremont historian.  He loved to reminisce about how Claremont had
changed since his childhood.  How the buildings had changed.  He prided
himself on his knowledge and memory of the people of Claremont.  How which
family was related through marriages.  He loved to remember the children as
they grew up and tell where they lived growing up.

He was a true people person with a great sense of humor even under his
battle with cancer.  He enjoyed and loved life.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of fifty-four years, Elaine
(Dodge) Lambert who died January 7, 1994.

The surviving family includes his wife, Evangeline (Girard) Couture Lambert
of Charlestown whom he married on April 12, 1997; two sons, Raymond J.
Lambert, Jr. and his wife, Karen of Rochester and James Lambert and friend,
Norm Hurd of White River Junction, VT; a granddaughter, Kristin Lambert; a
grandson, Michael Lambert; one great granddaughter, Abigail Lambert Tapley;
one sister, Yvette Mantere of Claremont; a step-daughter, Patricia L. Amidon
and her husband, Fred of Cornish; a step-granddaughter, Raquel Kelly and her
husband, John of Enfield; a step-grandson, Thomas R. LaFountaine of Lebanon
and nieces, nephews and many cousins.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning,
October 4th at Eleven O'clock in St Mary's Church with Rev. Shawn M.
Therrien, Pastor, officiating. 

Interment will follow in Mt View Cemetery.
