Richard William Dow, 52, of High Street in Claremont, died Tuesday morning,
July 5, 2005 at his home, surrounded by his family after a long battle with
cancer.

He was born in Lebanon, NH on June 29, 1953 the son of William P. and
Theresa (Kelly) Dow.

He served his country proudly for twenty-one years, from 1971 to 1992, in
the U.S. Army, three tours to Germany, one Fort Campbell, KY;  Fort Lewis in
Washington, one in Fort Hood in Texas and Fort Knox, KY. He also served in
Dessert Storm.  From 1992 to 1997 he was employed at Vinnell Corp. as a
master tank diagnosostician.  He worked in the mechanic corps at Vermont
Transit for three years and enjoyed time at Vermont Transit and said, "they
were the best group he had ever worked with".  His family was his life and
time spent with his grandsons was his greatest joy.

The surviving family includes his wife, Deborah  (Downing) Dow of Claremont
whom he married on February 10, 1973; one son, Jason Dow of Charlestown; one daughter, Nickie Dow of Claremont; two grandsons, Andrew Kenneth Dow and Joshua William Dow both of Charlestown; his mother of Claremont; two
sisters, Susan Kimball of Cornish and Lisa Dow of Sunapee; two brothers,
Denis Dow of Claremont and William Dow of Plainfield also several aunts,
uncles and cousins.  He was pre-deceased by his father, William P. Dow in
1991.

A memorial Service will be held Saturday morning, July 9th at Ten-Thirty in
the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, in Claremont with Rev. Father
Stanley J. Piwowar, Pastor of St Joseph Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Edminster Cemetery, in Cornish, with military
honors provided by the US Army detail from Fort Drum.

The family suggest that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his
memory to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, One Medical Center Drive,
Lebanon, NH 03756-0001.
