Richmond G. "Dick" Porter, 74, of Enfield, NH, died Wednesday morning,
December 6, 2006 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH
following a period of declining health.

He was born June 8, 1932 in Rochester, VT, the son of Frank A. and Carrie
Porter.  He attended schools in Springfield, VT.  He was married to Dorothy
Saunders in January 1962 and had resided in Enfield, NH since 1977.

Mr. Porter was activated in October 1950 to Germany with the Infantry
Regiment, 43rd Division, Army National Guard.  He was honorably discharged
in May 1952.  After returning from the service he attended Colonial School
of Tool Design in Williamsport, PA, and Bridgeport Technical College, while
working at Sikorsky Aircraft in Bridgeport, CT.  He was employed in credit
and finance as Assistant Credit Manager of Plymouth Electric Co. New Haven,
CT.  Returning to Vermont, Mr. Porter was employed by Bryant Chucking
Grinder, Jones & Lamson and Fellows Corp.  Mr. Porter retired in 1997 from
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center as a Security Officer.

Mr. Porter enjoyed the outdoors, had a great love for animals, especially
his most recent dog, "D-D".  Before moving to Enfield he operated a farm,
raising polled Herefords, as well as raising his Morgan horse and caring for
his other horses.  He enjoyed his seasonal home in the White Mountains for
32 years and spending time fishing.  He also enjoyed many years of deer
hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, and nieces and nephews.  He was pre-
deceased by a brother, Howard L. Porter and three sisters, Gladys Baird,
Ruth Haire and Reba Porter.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Saturday morning from 10 to 11 AM.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9th at Eleven O'clock at
the Funeral Home.
