Robert Henry Westcott, Sr.,77, of Woodrise Rd in Charlestown, died Saturday
afternoon, August 4, 2007 at the Woodlawn Nursing Home in Newport, NH.
He was born in Springfield, VT on September 15, 1929 the son of Carroll C.
and Dorothy May (Webster) Westcott, Sr.
He had resided in Charlestown for the past three years and had previously
lived in Langdon for eighteen years and was raised in Drewsville and
Walpole.
Mr. Westcott retired in 1991 from Fuller Machine Company in E. Alstead where
he worked as a machinist for twenty-two years and had previously worked at
Bryant Grinder Corp., J&L Machine and the Springfield Foundry all in
Springfield, VT and also did carpentry and masonry work for many years.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed racing at the old Claremont
Speedway back in '67 & '68.
The surviving family includes his former wife, Joy Westcott of Henniker;
three daughters, Brenda Tripodes and Karen Westcott both of Charlestown and
Noelle Westcott of Newport; three sons, Robert Westcott, Jr. of Unity, Brett
Westcott of Claremont and Joel Westcott of Alstead; twelve grandchildren,
four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lester Westcott of Westminster, VT
and Harry Westcott of Proctorsville, VT and nieces, nephews and cousins. He
was pre-deceased by one brother, Carroll C. Westcott, Jr. in 1979.
Friends may call at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street in
Charlestown on Wednesday evening, Aug. 8th from 6 to 8 PM.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday morning at Eleven O'Clock in the
Chapel with Rev. Canon Marthe F. Dyner, Rector of St. Luke's Episcopal
Church officiating.
Interment will follow in the Lower Langdon Cemetery.
