Robert J. Belanger, 79, of Chase Street in Claremont, died Thursday evening,
May 24, 2007 at the Valley Regional Hospital.
He was born in Graniteville, VT on November 14, 1927 the son of Auguste A.
and Clara (LaMontagne) Belanger and had been a resident of Claremont for
sixty-five years.
Robert was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy for twenty
years, retiring in 1966 and retired from the Fleet Reserve on Jan. 1, 1975.
He later worked as a custodian for twenty-two years for the State of NH
Armory and retired in 1989.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #29, the V.F.W. Post #808 the
D.A.V. Chapter #20 and the F.R.A. Fleet Reserve Association Branch #16.
The surviving family includes his wife, Francisca (Camacho) Belanger whom he
married on October 4, 1961; two sons, Robert F. Belanger and his wife Lisa
and James M. Belanger; two granddaughters, Brittany and Ashley Belanger; two
grandsons, James II and Brandon Belanger; two sisters, Blanche R. Paulette
and Shirley Anne Andersen all of Claremont also nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by one brother, James S. Belanger on June 9, 1988.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday afternoon, May 30th at Three
O'clock at the Stringer Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor
of St Mary's Church, officiating.
Interment will full military honors provided by the American Legion Post #29
of Claremont will follow in Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 - 3 PM prior to the
services.
The family suggests that donations may be made in his memory to the American
Heart/Stroke Association, two Wall St., Manchester, NH 03101-1518 or the
Veterans Administration Respite Room Fund, 215 North Main St., White River
Junction, VT 05009-0001.
