Roland Dwight Spear, 83, of Osgood Avenue, died Sunday afternoon, April 17, 2005 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. He was born in Hartland, VT on March 12, 1922 the son of Edwin and Kitty (Gates) Spear and had resided in Claremont for over fifty years. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Air Force. Mr. Spear worked as a machinist at Joy Manufacturing for twenty-five years. He had previously done auto body work in Hartland, VT. He was a member of the American Legion Department #20. Mr. Spear enjoyed antique car shows, flea markets, the Braves baseball team, puzzles and collected antique auto parts manuals and other items of interest. The surviving family includes his wife, Mildred Mary (Forsaith) Spear of Claremont whom he married on September 29, 1962; one step-son, William W. Mullen of Claremont; one step-daughter, Priscilla Miller of Fesno, CA; five step-grandchildren, Amanda Mullen, Joey Claflin, Sadie Kenney, Vanessa Raymond and Timothy Brock; also several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a step-son Robert D. Mullen and a step-daughter, Elizabeth Ann Mullen. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visiting or funeral services. Graveside services will be Sunday, May 1st at eleven o'clock in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bradford, NH. The Stringer Funeral Home and Crematorium, 146 Broad Street in Claremont is in charge of arrangements. |
