Tilghman A. Cressman, 79, of Leslie Avenue in Claremont, died Tuesday,
September 18, 2007 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
He was born in Slatington, PA on May 28, 1928 the son of Ralph and Anna
(Davis) Cressman.
He was a graduate of Slatington High School in 1947.
He was a 20 year veteran of the US Air Force. While in the service he had
tours of duty in Guam, Greenland, Norway, Vietnam and Hawaii. Besides
having served overseas, he was stationed in various state-side bases
including two stints of recruiting duty, one in the Allentown, PA area and
the Claremont area where he retired in 1969.
He was employed at the U.S. Postal Service in Claremont and retired in 1983
after 15 years of service.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors.
He was a member of the American Legion, Post #29.
The surviving family includes his wife Margaret "Sal" (Costello) Cressman
of Claremont; two sons, Lawrence (Larry) Cressman and his wife Kim of
Manchester NH and Donald Cressman and his wife Suzan of Claremont;
four brothers, Paul Cressman of Florida, George Cressman of Virginia, Ralph
Cressman of New York, Clarence "Reds" Cressman of Catasauqua, PA ; one
sister, Caroline Lendvay of Palmerton, PA and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son, Paul Cressman; two brothers, Donald Cressman
and Franklin Cressman and one sister, Eleanor George.
Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street on Sunday
from 5 to 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning, September 24th at Eleven
O'clock at the Funeral Home with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar, Pastor of
St Joseph Church, officiating.
Interment with full military honors by the US Air Force of Pease Air Force
Base will follow in St Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Claremont
Senior Center, 5 Acer Road, Claremont, NH 03743.
Members of the American Legion Post #29 will conduct services Sunday evening
at 7 PM.
