Waldo "Stub" Streeter died on March 4 in Orange City, FL.  He was born in
Keene, NH on April 21, 1915.  After graduating from Keene High School he
received a Bachelors Degree from Keene State and a Masters Degree in
Education from the University of Vermont. Stub began his career in education
as an Industrial Arts teacher and later became Principal of Charlestown High
School in Charlestown, NH. He started his 49 years of married life with
Frances Snow in Claremont, NH on August 21, 1940. Together they raised four
children in Acworth, New Hampshire until moving to Darien, CT in 1953.  Stub
continued his career as a teacher at Middlesex Junior High School and was
active in the Darien Congregational Church in several positions including
deacon and head of religious education. 

Upon his retirement in 1975 he returned to his beloved Acworth where he
served on many civic and church committees including the Fall Mountain
School Board, the Community Alliance and was once named Volunteer of the
Year in New Hampshire.  In 1947 he was a founding member of the Friday Night
Suppers at the Acworth Church that continue to this day. At the Acworth
Church he served in many capacities including moderator, trustee, and
deacon.  He was a master craftsman, refinished antiques throughout his life
and started Country Antiques Shop in his beautiful colonial home in South
Acworth.  Winters were spent in Orange City, FL since 1978.  After the death
of his wife, Fran, Stub married Thelma Hause of Sunapee, NH and continued an
active life of world travel, tennis (he played through his 90th year),
church activities, participating in family functions and attending sports
events at Colby Sawyer College and Stetson University in Deland, FL.

 

He is survived by his wife, Thelma, and three children: Christopher and
Diane Streeter of Hancock,NH; Jonathan Streeter and Elizabeth McKinstry of
Wilder,Vt. and Joan and Jean Vaillancourt of Alstead, NH.   He also has 12
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Debbie Beck of Stowe, Vt. died suddenly in December of 2006. 

A celebration of his 91 years of life will be held at the Acworth Church on
the hill on March 10th at One O'clock. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Streeter Memorial Fund
in care of the Connecticut River Bank in Charlestown, NH.  The fund will be
used for school, civic and church activities in Acworth.
