William "Bill" Dole 79 died Saturday July 28, 2007, at the Valley Regional
Hospital surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous fight with MDS
resulting in leukemia.

William was born in Claremont December 4, 1927, the son of Arthur J. and
Mildred (Newell) Dole.

He married Theresa I. Rawn on July 8, 1978, after a high school relation was
renewed.

The surviving family includes his wife Theresa (Potvin) Dole.  A son, Peter
A. Dole and his wife, Beverly of Gilford, NH.  A daughter, Susan J. Carter
and her husband, John of Belmont, NH.  One brother Cedric "Tim" Dole and his
wife, Dorothy of Claremont, Also, 6 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 5 great
granddaughters and 1 great grandson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Mae "Dole" Berry, a brother
Gordon R. Dole and two sons Christopher P. Dole of Claremont and Jeffrey R.
Dole of South Paris, ME.

He was a past president of the Lion's Club, member of the Moose, and the
Claremont Country Club. He was a member of the American Legion Post #29.

William attended Stevens High School leaving his senior year to join the
Navy. In November of 2000, he received an honorary diploma in a moving
ceremony at Stevens High School. He was self-employed as a Master Plumber
and Electrician. For several years, he was a Claremont Police Officer.

 

He and his wife enjoyed many luxury cruises and vacations at their son's
condo on Daytona Beach, Florida. He loved dancing, music, and gardening.

Our friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street 6-8PM on
Tuesday, July 31, 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at St. Mary's Church at 11:00AM with the Reverand
Tetu officiating.

Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests the memorial donations to St. Mary's
School, 18 Central Street, or St. Mary's Renovation Fund, 32 Pearl Street,
both in Claremont, NH 03743.
