William Peter Raymond, Sr., 80, of Maple Avenue in Claremont, died Saturday evening, July 15, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Junction, VT. He was born in Windsor, VT on April 4, 1926 the son of Peter Exavier and Suzane Marie (Quetier) Raymond and had resided in Claremont since 1949. He graduated from Windsor High School and was a veteran of World War II having served in Germany with the U.S. Army-Air Corp. He retired in 1989 from Joy Manufacturing Co. where he worked for forty years in assembly, inspection and final testing. He had previously worked with his father in the landscape business in Windsor and after his retirement he worked with his children with their businesses. Pete was a member of Father Cote Council and Assembly Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post of Windsor, a member and Past Commander of V.F.W. Post #808, the Moose Lodge #1201, the Polish American Citizens Club, a former Boy Scout Leader of Troop #32 and a member and a former director for twenty years of the Claremont Federal Credit Union. He enjoyed music and played with the Eddie Wynn Band, the Yacht Club Orchestra, the Legion Drum Corp, the Army Air Force Band and numerous other area bands. He loved his family, his dog, "Molly" and was an avid Red Sox fan. The surviving family includes his wife, Mary A. (Lasky) Raymond of Claremont whom he married on Nov. 27, 1947; three sons, William "Buzzy" Raymond, Jr. and his wife, Glenda of Palmer, AK, Jeffrey P. Raymond and his fiancée Nancy Lizotte of Claremont and Bradley John Raymond and his partner, Lorice Pierce of Claremont; two daughters, Suzanne Marie Rivard and her husband Michael of Charlestown and Patricia "Tish" Royce and her partner J. Young of Springfield, VT; nineteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several cousins. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM. The Knights of Columbus will conduct a service at the funeral home at 6:15 PM and the Moose Lodge at 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning, July 19th at Eleven O'clock at St Mary's Church with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt View Cemetery.
